Managing Director
Fridolf A. Hanson is a seasoned leveraged finance professional with over two decades of experience in middle market credit, with deep expertise in private equity sponsor coverage, new business originations, underwriting, structuring, and syndication. He is recognized for his ability to source and close complex transactions through long-standing relationships with private equity firms, independent sponsors, and family offices, as well as investment banks and third-party intermediaries. His transaction experience spans working capital lines, stretch ABL term loans, cash flow loans, and second lien term loans, with deal sizes ranging from $10MM to $150MM, often tied to sponsor-backed acquisitions, recapitalizations, and growth financings.
Currently serving as Managing Director at Cortland Credit Group since March 2024, Fridolf is expanding U.S. market coverage from New York, overseeing deal pipelines and syndications, with a continued focus on building and deepening relationships with financial sponsors. He leverages various CRM tools such as DealCloud to manage originations and workflow execution. Prior to Cortland, he held leadership positions at White Oak Commercial Finance, Oceanarc Capital Partners, Ares Management, LBC Credit Partners, Royal Bank of Scotland, Wells Fargo, and GE Capital. Notable deals include a $105MM senior debt facility for a sponsor-led automotive platform acquisition and a $52MM cash flow loan backing a buy-and-build strategy in the personal care sector.
Fridolf is valued for his ability to balance origination with credit quality and navigate multi-party deal environments involving sponsors, management teams, and co-lenders. A Six Sigma Black Belt, he has driven strategic process improvements—most notably a national GE initiative that increased market coverage by 17% and generated over $1B in new volume. A regular speaker and mentor on private credit markets, he offers insights on sponsor-driven trends, deal structuring, and credit risk.
He holds an MBA in Finance from Wake Forest University and a B.A. in Eastern European Studies and History from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Based in Greenwich, CT, Fridolf continues to leverage his extensive sponsor network and industry knowledge to drive impactful capital solutions.
